“Just wanted to shoot off an email now that the venue siding is almost complete….with several thoughts in mind.
The crew has done a fantastic job applying it–taking great care to get it right and not to waste anything needlessly (more on this later). The product is stunningly beautiful–and gives the structure a presence that wold not otherwise be possible–of presence and place and belonging achieved by the weathered, land respecting vernacular. The quality has been consistently wonderful–straight, minimally knotted–and heavy at a full 7/8″ thickness from well cured/stabilized/dense wood (must be the large forest fire kiln…..:-\).
You will notice the minimal waste pile as well–knowing this has been shipped quite a distance and is not available off the shelf–the crew and client have been even more fanatical than our usual 1/2 or 1% waste coefficient–due to their conscientious care as well as the quality of the product. When we get the chapel (frame attached) sheathed in an antique white it is going to be spectacular….beyond what we can imagine.
Thanks to all–and to Glen Ehrhardt at Windswept for pursuing me these almost six and a half years…time has flown and here we are on our first of what I am sure will be many projects for many years to come.”
